RARE FOOTAGE OF THE SMITHS UNEARTHED AFTER 25 YEARS:

“Footage is of a rare gig Morrissey performed with The Smiths after he left the band to go solo has emerged online.

The gig took place at Wolverhampton Civic Hall on December 22, 1988. An Uncut feature from 1998 uploaded to Morrissey-Solo.com fills in the background to the show. “Exactly 365 days after he’d last worked with them, Morrissey (or rather his lawyer) phoned Marr, Joyce and Rourke and suggested a gig. The result was a triumphant experience for all concerned, with feverish members of the audience gaining admission with a Smiths or Morrissey T-Shirt.”

This is the office where I worked in 2007. That’s me on the bottom left corner, hard at work making the Meth Minute 39 series for Frederator Studios ( who were at the time developing a little show you may have heard of called “Adventure Time”).
See that long-haired guy all the way on the right side? That’s David Karp in the preliminary stages of inventing Tumblr. At this point, the only people who had heard of Tumblr are in the room. A lot can happen in 6 years! But don’t worry, everyone… he knows why we all love Tumblr and he’s not going to let it get ruined! I got a feeling.

Awesome.

This was the year I joined Tumblr. Living way up in Seattle, I felt like I’d stumbled onto a well-kept secret because there weren’t that many people here then, and those of us who were here were all following each other, for the most part. It felt like a small town.

It’s been a blast watching it grow. Change is good, embrace it always.

I remember this office! Was kind of fun to have so many buds in one place: the Next New Networks posse + the Tumblr folks (Tumblr being all of three people at the time - David, Marco and Jacob). Kind of crazy to think of all the meetings that must’ve taken place in those days on that little half-couch in the corner behind David’s desk.

Was a pretty fun/exciting time to be making internet thingz.
